Reactions to JBER wind damage

A destructive wind storm swept through parts of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, damaging buildings, 12 vehicles and overturning a contractor box-truck September 19. While the actual wind-speed was not recorded, several witnesses believed it was more than 100 miles-per-hour and tossed plywood and other debris as high as 250 feet in the air. While no one was injured from the wind gusts, initial estimates report thousands of dollars worth of damage to personal, contracted and military property.
