Celine Dion, a female in heat on Buser's team, was one of five dogs he temporarily lost outside of Rainy Pass.

Celine comes from Buser’s “Canadian” litter. She sometimes run lead with her brother, Neil Young. Also in the litter: Wayne Gretzky & Sergeant Preston.

Celine is in heat and created a ruckus when Buser’s team came upon Newton Marshall outside of Rainy Pass. Marshall had stopped at a tight spot on the trail, Buser said.

The dogs jumped on Celine.

"So to save her, I turned everybody loose. Or a lot of them loose,” Buser said.

The musher’s dogs are trained to stay put off leash. But Celine Dion felt threatened by the other dogs and took off, he said. Others chased.

“They must have taken a side trail. When I got to Rainy Pass, they hadn’t checked in yet,” said Buser, who told the story as he rubbed Celine’s ear.

Eventually they showed up, he said. Isn’t that right, he asked Celine Dion.
